Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection

The Good
Not too many changes from the original Wii release versions (both of which I wrote reviews for), see below for my thoughts on the differences.

The option to use the standard controller is at once neat and frustrating.

The Bad
The option to use the standard controller (instead of the PS 'move' peripheral) is at once good and bad. Good in that it gives you a more familiar tool to work with, and bad in the it brings it back to a 'Star Wars : Dark Forces' type of 1st person shooter instead of a gun-con type.

I don't have the 'move' peripherals, I'm sure they are on par with the Wii controls (which were fine).

The Bottom Line
I honestly think the dev's read my reviews of both Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles - either that, or my complaints were echoed by other people who played this game.

The only real changes are an upscaling (to 720p HD), and minor control changes to Umbrella Chronicles (an auto-aim system).

The changes to Darkside Chronicles are exactly the two problems I had with it:

The lack of 2-player support on the 'zombie shake-off' moves has been solved with your partners ability to jump in to save you (provided they are healthy enough to do so!)

The terrible font and screen for the 'files' you unlock in the original has been replaced by a very easy to read bold font over an opaque background image. Such a minor change, but a welcome one!

I paid for these games twice without much hesitation - if you're an RE fan, and especially if you want to relive or discover the first series of games (Resident Evil : Zero, Resident Evil Rebirth, RE2, RE3, Code-Veronica) I really recommend this as an easy and fun way.
