Mark Crowe
Biography edit · view history
One of the legendary "Two Guys from Andromeda", Mark Crowe is best known as the co-creator of the Space Quest series.
He began his career in the games industry as an illustrator for Sierra's marketing department, working on packaging, logos and documentation, and also doing some box illustrations. He then moved on to computer graphics, his first project being Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood. While working on the graphics of The Black Cauldron, he met Scott Murphy, who was a programmer on the project. The two shared a love of science fiction and a sense of humor, so they decided to get together and design their own game - the Two Guys from Andromeda and Space Quest were born.
Crowe doing artwork, Murphy programming, both designing, they did four Space Quest games together. After the fourth game, the two split ways, with Crowe moving to Dynamix. At Dynamix, Crowe designed Space Quest V on his own and later worked on the Earthsiege games. He stopped working for Dynamix in 1999.
Crowe then joined other former Dynamix employees at Pipeworks Software. He served as Studio Design Director at the company and worked as a designer on Pipeworks' Godzilla titles.
Crowe has since left Pipeworks to start a new company with Scott Murphy, called Guys from Andromeda, with a spiritual successor to Space Quest, called SpaceVenture, due out Summer 2013.
