Description official description

Dark Forces have attacked the land of Aritia. You're controlling some of the members of the Aritan's forces that escaped from their country and came on the island of Tamis for safety. Unfortunately, a group of pirates is invading the Tamis, and it's up to you to control the island again.

Fire Emblem is a strategy game where you have to move your units on a map. You can control the blue units while the red ones are enemies. You have to attack enemies from various ranges, in function of the weapon you're using. Usually, you have to be one or two squares next to the enemy. When a battle is set, you see both characters; allies in blue on the right and the opponent in red on the left with a detailed animation. The enemy will counterattack if he can, and either you or the enemy may also do one more hit to close the battle. When you've finished, it's the computer's turn and it will do the same with its units. Once the HP (Health Points) of any unit reaches 0, they are definitely out of battle and can't return again, whether it's an enemy or an ally.

Beginning Of A New Legend!

The Good
The 1st title of the wonderful Fire Emblem series, a game that would be later known for an hybrid genre of RPG & STRATEGY. Released in 1990 exclusively in Japan, Fire Emblem was developed by Intelligent Systems and was published by Nintendo. It is known as Fire Emblem:The Dark Dragon, informally in the Western audiences. The game came to be known for its turn-based strategy elements with a decent story. The game follows the adventures of a young prince, Marth, on his journey to regain his kingdom from the evil clutches of the kingdom Dohrua.

The Bad
The most challenging part of the Fire Emblem series was initiated by the very beginning and that is, a character once defeated in a battle will be unavailable for the entire game. This is an aspect of the game that has dual understandings, some take this as an bad feature of the game whereas some take it as a real challenge.

The Bottom Line
The legendary starting of an epic series. A must try for Strategy lovers. This game is really something, I will not hesitate in writing that it is a genre-defining series. I will give it a 4 out of 5 rating.
