Description

In this first-person game based on the film, missions and the stories are different depending on what species you select. You have three species to select...
  • Aliens... their armour is quite strong, and they have self-healing possibility. Their only weapons they have are their own body parts: claws for close combat, their deadly tail, and their inner mouth that can crack through enemy skull is close enough. They can't be hurt through falls, and can generate enough light to see clearly ahead. Their strength lies in flexibility and speed.

  • Humans... US Marines, as portrayed by Michael Biehn in the film 'Aliens'. You can have rather strong firepower that ranges from fast-shooting-and-self-locating-target piercing minigun, and flamethrower, all the way to the rocket launchers, and even more powerful weapons. Being a marine is the scariest way to play this game. You have a small radar that makes you nervous - showing that someone is near, and you can not see it, whatever it is. A night-view mode is also provided.

  • Predators... Their power is their strength, and their sight. They have at least four ways of seeing a picture - self-locating aliens one, self-recognizing humans one, night-vision alike one, and more... They have disks that automatically search for targets if in range and sight, although you will need to switch to LCD light to see these in some situations. They have many weapons, and most are auto-targetting and destructive - precise or deadly. Predators have the ability to zoom an image in and out when seeking someone at far distance.
There are several multiplayer modes. For a difficult game, you can pit all the players against the horde of computer creatures (which includes alienators and predaliens that are like stronger mutants and look rather different). Alternatively, you can choose species and an arena to pit human players against each other.

Great capture of each movie's feel, but get the sequel if you want a solid game. Zovni (9114) unrated

Trivia

A "gold edition" of Aliens Vs. Predator was recently released. In actuality the "gold edition" is just a patch that adds in-game saves, two new weapons, a few new multiplayer levels, and direct server support.

The european version of the gold additional also replaces the actors in the game with members of programming company Rebellion's staff acting out the roles.

If you ordered the full version of the gold edition directly from Fox, you would also receive a strategy guide as well as a stuffed rubber facehugger.
